We have plenty of boats available tomorrow Wednesday 4th due to a double strike on the keyboard at the fishery end.
Evening Fishing Commenced this week and the water temperature is 13C and clarity 2.5m at Gateside.
Buzzertastic at the Lake at the moment. The water is fishing at its best so far this season – if not for a couple of seasons. Some tremendous catches at the moment with boat catches in the 30s fairly common. All on buzzers in the eastern basin. Did have one boat in this afternoon who couldnt get buzzers to work but had 18 on dries (Scott Caven) – then the next boat in (Alec Rennie and co) had 49 plus a roach, couple of perch and a pike – all on buzzers (straight lining them).
Stewart Inglis was out on Saturday and netted 37 with his rod and his nephew had 16. To quote Stewart “It was the best buzzer fishing I have ever had”. Here he is below with one of his fish.
THE BOAT LEAGUE KICKS OFF NEXT WEEK (6pm Wed 11th May) WITH NEW RULES AND WE ARE LOOKING FOR NEW MEMBERS. You dont have to be an expert! It is a nice sociable occasion and a great way to improve your skills. This year it is being fished to Scottish Club Rules. The main impact of this is a maximum fly and hook size but it will also mean no standing unless you are playing a fish. Measures will be issued curtesy of Angus Angling. (see below).
The structure of the league is that boat partners are allocated randomly on the night and the winner is the individual with the best 9 placings out of a potential 15. There are prizes for each heat (Selection of Fario Flies and a Menteith Boat Voucher) – you cannot win the the heat prizes more than once, and monetary prizes for the top 3 league positions at the end. We are honoured that the competition is once again being sponsored by Fario Flies.
There is talk of splitting the league into two, half way through, to keep interest in the lower ranks……
