| Water temperature
has fluctuated around 20C at 6ft. At the start of the
week there was a population boom (and bust) of daphnia
(grey) and these creatures probably were partly responsible
for the big improvement in clarity as they grazed on the
suspended algae. However the previously high water temperatures
perhaps played a more important role. Clarity has dropped
back to around 2.2m after a high of 3m. There were prolific
hatches of caenis, midge and sedge some reported sightings
of the heather fly or red legs. Hot spots have been along
the edge of the road shore deep and round about dog isle.
Cats whisker - various, booby-various (humungster), blob-various,
cormorant, diawl bach, bibio, buzzers, bloodworm, green
olive, kate mclaren fished at intermediate depths have
reportedly taken the best bags. Some superlative catches
e.g. Thack AC (6 boats) 66 fish for 143lbs. |
