| Water temperature
has cooled to around 19C/20C at 6ft and secchi disk clarity
improved to 2.7m (9ft). The majority of anglers seem to
be going down for their fish, which is usually the case
at these water temperatures. Lures (e.g. boobies and blobs)
are the favoured types. However, when the conditions are
right, the fish have been coming up for the dries and
buzzer/emerger/traditional patterns. The hot spot for
the week has undoubtedly been above the road shore deep.
The deeper water at Malling/Dog Isle has also been worthy
of attention. Gateside bay seems to have cleared and is
holding fish again - after the deluges of two weeks ago
brought down tonnes of silt. The cooler water temperatures
this week have certainly heralded a bonanza in terms of
fish catches, e.g. 30 boats on Thursday 15th landed 330 fish for 705lbs, an average catch of 23.5lbs
of fish per boat. |
