| Another really excellent
fishing week at Menteith with a boat catch average of
5.4 fish for 13.2lbs. The average weight is currently
around the 2 lb mark watch out for straightened hooks.
The water temperature rose 3 C in the last week and now
reads 14C at 6 ft. Fish can be caught anywhere on the
water but the top end (Sandy Bay to Stable Point) has
started to fish and since this area has seen little angling
pressure has fast become a hot spot to rival the road
shore and the butts. Intermediate or floating lines have
predominated with lures (cats, viva, damsel, blob) teamed
up with smaller traditionals or buzzers (black epoxy).
Today a lot of fish were moving on the surface and dry
fly tactics should now be worth a try. |

NATIONAL FLY FISHING CHAMPIONSHIP PRELIM: 56 competitors
landed 315 fish for 764lbs. The top 50% weights went through
to the next round. The cut off weight for qualification
was 7 fish for 15lbs 4oz. The top 3 weights were K.Renton
of Greenlaw with 8 fish for 21lbs 15oz, Scott Pozzi (Defending
Champ 8 for 21lbs 5oz) and Malcolm /Millar (Strathclyde

Scottish Ladies Team were out for more practice. Their
best catch was Helen Philps with 6 fish for 15lbs. In
the evening Gardener/Marsano had 5 fish for 11lbs. |
