30th to 5th Sept Weekly Report
|
|
| The water
temperature is gearing up for its autumnal descent and now
reads 18C at 6ft, clarity is 1.8m. The fish are now to be
found all over (with the exception of the shallow bays) and no
longer just in the warm water hot spots resident rainbows are
full of perch/roach fry. Killing lines are intermediate and
floaters (i.e. surface to two feet down) fished with a lure
(white cat, blob, damsel) combined with traditionals (e.g.
Dunkeld, silver Invicta, blae and black) or
nymph/buzzer/hoppers. The drop in temperature means that many
of the residents are feeding higher up and are now within
reach. Thus we've had some of the best fishing this season at
the Lake with average daily boat catches of 14lbs 8oz (for the
week) and superbly conditioned fish of average weight 2lbs
9oz. | |

| These 12 (plus
Helen Philp and Jay Steel) now comprise the National Ladies
Team for 2003. In all, the 30 competitors landed 120 fish for
307lbs. A mean weight of 2lbs 9oz and a mean catch per boat of
20lbs 8oz. This years Ladies Champion is Gillian Forsyth of
Methven with 10 fish for 28lbs 4oz. This was Gill's first
outing in a Loch Competition and her casting skill came to the
fore - as most of the fish were taken well away from the boat
as the line hit the water. Gillian is also this years Scone's
Ladies Casting Cham, fished a Cats whisker (#12) and a magenta
blobby on a floating line off the Road shore. 2nd was Jean Ferguson
also with 10 fish but for a lesser weight of 24lbs 7oz. Jean
was fishing a cat/diawl bach combination on an intermediate
line on the road shore. Cove and Kilgreggan's Jane Wright was
third with 9 fish. | |
