30th to 5th Sept Weekly Report
The water temperature is gearing up for its autumnal descent and now reads 18C at 6ft, clarity is 1.8m. The fish are now to be found all over (with the exception of the shallow bays) and no longer just in the warm water hot spots resident rainbows are full of perch/roach fry. Killing lines are intermediate and floaters (i.e. surface to two feet down) fished with a lure (white cat, blob, damsel) combined with traditionals (e.g. Dunkeld, silver Invicta, blae and black) or nymph/buzzer/hoppers. The drop in temperature means that many of the residents are feeding higher up and are now within reach. Thus we've had some of the best fishing this season at the Lake with average daily boat catches of 14lbs 8oz (for the week) and superbly conditioned fish of average weight 2lbs 9oz.
