| At Gateside Bay
the water temperature has increased to 20C. Secchi disk
reading for water clarity is around 5ft. The best drifts
continue to be around the deeper water (Heronry, Malling,
Arnmach/Inchmahome, Rookery and Gateside). Of late the
strong east wind has brought the road shore into the picture
and some fine bags have been coming from here on small
lures, dries and buzzers. Best flies have been variable
e.g. sedges, blae and black buzzers, nymphs, cat and orange
blob. The trick has as usual been to find the fish. A
task made all the more difficult in the torrential downpours
and variable wind direction. |

| The boat average
catch for July was 3.46 fish for 8lbs 2oz. (av.fish wt.
2lbs 5 oz). The average catch for the year so far is 4.02
fish for 9.2lbs. The total catch for July was 3799, a
little down on last year. Disappointing for July but it
does bode well for August/September. The wet weather may
be the reason - as stocking is so far well up on last
year. |
