The heat wave having past-over, the Lake is now starting to cool down but the best bags are coming from a fast glass and a lure from places like the Malling Shore, Burnmouth in Gateside and on the buzzer banks. On the day of the National heat on Friday 26th water temperature reached 19C at 6ft, but the anglers still managed to net 246 trout averaging 2lbs 6oz in weight. Top rod with 14 fish was Donnie Macbeth from Fort William fishing wet mayflies on a hover line in the Heronry and dog Isle. 2nd top James Kerr with 12 trout (including one at 7lbs and one at 5lbs). James was fishing at the Malling shore with cormorants and a fab on a buzzer line. More detail on this result at http://www.sanacc.org.uk/2017-national-heats.html.
