We have 4 free boats on Saturday 1st August and 3 free boats on Sunday 2nd August due to holiday cancellations. The Lake is currently fishing well with a mean weight over 2.5lbs.

Lake of Menteith Report 28th July

The Water temperature has cooled down to 16C at 6 feet and the Clarity on Secchi disc is reading 2.5m. The wind has settled this week and there has been a good hatch of fly’s so the swallows have been busy feeding. The best drifts have been Malling Shore down to Stable point, cages bay, The Rookery, shear point round to International bay. With the fish in the top 4 feet you Lines to use are from a floater down to a Di 3. The fly’s to fish include Kate McLaren, Cormorants the Orange blob, white cat and yellow dancer, Hares Lug, Diawl Bach, Montana’s.

On the 11th night of the Angling Centre Stirling Menteith Boat League the 30 anglers landed 93fish for 227lb 15oz with 10 five fish limit bags. First on the night was Bill Ramage with 5 fish for 14lbs 6ox, 2nd Andy Mackay with 5 for 14lbs 4oz and 3rd Robbie Mather with 5 fish for 14lb 2oz. The heaviest fish of the night and the league so far weighed 3lb 11oz and was caught by Robbie Mather. With only 9 nights counting the poorer scores or no shows are now being deducted. Andy MacKay is now top of the League with 41 points. In 2nd position is Robbie Mather on 66 points Ian skilling is 3rd on 69 points. For results and league placings see the boat league results on the website. Biggest fish and heaviest bag received the prize of a fly line from ACS. With only 3 more nights to go until the Final and BBQ on the glorious 12th - Andy is looking difficult to catch.

 


The 13th Heat of the Scottish Club Championships Sponsored by the Daily Record, Angling Centre Stirling and Famous Grouse Whisky, fished well with the best catch of the heats so far with the 51 anglers catching 159 fish for 356lbs. First placed were Inverurie(S Corsa, T Graham, C Murray) with 15 fish for37lb 4oz, 2nd place were Monifieth with 13 for 33lbs 12oz and 3rd were Edinburgh Trout Anglers with 12 for 27lb 15oz. These teams go through to the semi-final on the 25th September.  As with last week there were 13 five fish limits. The top 4 weights were Gordon Armstrong (Roscobie) Shane Elder (Monifeith) John Hood (Lame Ducks) and Colin Elder (Monifeith).  Heaviest fish of the night was caught by Graham Galloway (Stirling Castle) weighing 4lb 2oz. Winners, top rod and heaviest fish received bottles of Famous Angler (Grouse) Whisky. As there has been a lot of bag limits those who were not in the top four there will a draw for the rest of the places.

Aberdour Angling club (7 boats) 52 fish 121lb, Mr O’Neil and Mr McKenzie 10 fish 25lb, P & I Clarke 10 fish 24lb 12oz, LDAC (14 boats) 73 fish 174lb, Mr Clements (Tyndrum) 10 fish 28lb, The Currie Bothers (Bannockburn) 10 fish for 25lb, Mr Crighton 10 fish for 25lb, Leach/Morgan 10 fish 25lb.
