Lake of Menteith Report 26th Oct 09
The Water temperature and clarity at Gateside is 10C and 2.0m. Previous weather East and Westerlies. Areas reported to be holding fish: West side of Gateside Bay, Reedy Point and Bay, Hotel Bay, Shear Point vicinity, Kates Brae/Lochend, Tod Hole to the Butts and the Heronry. The booby is proving popular at the moment usually on a Di3 but also on a sink tip.
19 Anglers raise £2857 (at the last count) for CHAS (75%) and Youth Angling (25%)

Pictured above Davie Bertram (on left) from Edinburgh collected the most sponsorship (£700) and Alistair MacKellor from Furnace won the £100 entrant’s raffle draw and collected an electric outboard. Top bag on the day was Jimmy McMride from Edinburgh with 15 fish for 32lbs 11oz, 2nd was Gordon Cunningham with 9 fish for 19lbs 10oz and 3rd Derek Marklow also with 9 fish. A brilliant result and this competition is gathering momentum and a planned move to May will surely help to increase funds raised.
The 19 anglers caught exactly 100 fish and a huge thanks to the CHANGE Anglers and Kevin McCabe for their massive input to the day.
Our season closes with the Kirk and School Day on Sunday 1st November.
