||WEEKLY FISHERY REPORT|
Boat bookings: Tel.01877 385 664
Water temperature at 6ft 13C Clarity on Secchi disc 1.5m. Apologies for no report last week this was due to computer problems at the Lake. The east wind has calmed down and has of today been replaced by a westerly. The direction of the wind may be responsible for anglers finding fish in the Heronry and Gateside Bay. In the recent bright sunshine the best tactics were buzzers fished deep and vertical . Prior to this flies doing well had been the white cat, kate mclaren and the yellow dancer, and the areas had been Reedy Point - and to a lesser extent the Butts. George Pellini from Glasgow (left) holds the fish that helped him become the winner of the first comp of the year at the Lake and qualify for the Troutmaster Final in England. The winner was the angler with the heaviest first five fish. George had 5 for 12lbs 4oz, 2nd was George Black with 5 for 10lbs 7oz and 3rd was Peter Edge with 5 for 9lbs 14oz.
Davie Johnston of Coatbridge (above) caught this fine looking 8lb 9oz over wintered specimen in Gateside Bay on a yellow dancer.
Above left: Scott Davidson of the Pike Anglers Club with the biggest fish off the Lake so far this year – a 36lb pike (caught 7/3/09). Reckoned to be one of the 5 biggest pike caught in Scotland in the last 20 years.
