Scotland Find it Easy - 2009 Autumn International Results
Scotland easily won the recent Fly Fishing International at the Lake of Menteith. The margin had folk scratching their heads to try and remember a more emphatic win by any country in a Loch International.
Scotland 108 fish for 229lbs 12.2oz
England 74 fish for 160lbs 13.2oz
Wales 73 fish for 157lbs 13.6oz
Ireland 66 fish for 138lbs 5.6oz
In total the four 14 man teams landed 321 fish and weighed in 160 for 365lbs. The Scots rod average was 7.7 fish whilst runners up England managed a rod average of 5.2. The rod average for the match was 5.7 and there were no blanks. Top Scottish rod and Brown Bowl winner was Andy McKay from Glasgow with 11 fish for 23lbs1.2oz. Second, third and fourth best bags also went to Scots – Erland Hutchison, Sandy McConnachie and Ken Oliver. The Scots won the match fishing mainly the dry fly and the most productive drifts were the Shore Road, Gateside and Sam’s Point.
