The Water temperature and clarity at Gateside is 13C and 2.1m. The prevailing wind has been westerlies and calm of recent. The 2nd last stock of the season (420 two pound plus fish) was distributed around the whole Lake today. A lot of the action has been out in the middle of the eastern basin as well at Gateside bay and the Road shore from Hotel bay to Lochend. Fish have been coming up to near the surface for dabblers, crunchers, cormorants, bibios and diawl bachs.
The last stocking will be of a similar amount and will be going in on Monday of next week. Next Tuesday is our CHAS and Youth angling Fund Raiser day. We still have boats available so if you want to come along and put a few quid towards the aforementioned that’d be great. If you collect more than £100 then you will be eligible for the prize draw. As an added incentive we will be pushing the cages ashore and allowing fishing across of all of Gateside Bay.
On Tuesday 13th Dave Paterson (Top left) from Stenhousmuir caught 13 trout including this fine resident 6 pounder. Below left: We were treated to a magnificent game pie by Stan Paterson on Monday, and Bill Godfrey boated this Dace (Bottom right). Jamie Baxter from Falkirk netted a 22lb pike on a 3lb tippet.
The official season closes on Saturday 31st October but the final day’s fly fishing is always the Kirk and School Fundraiser on the following Sunday (1st Nov) – with fishing from 12-4.30 and soup, songs, BBQ and venison stew available at the end of the day – all for £40 for two. All proceeds to the afore-mentioned.
