31st March 2008
6ft Water Temp: 6C, Clarity (secchi disk): 2.5m
Water temperature up 1C, and slightly milder on occasions over the last few days – with significant buzzer hatches. Fishy areas have been from Reedy Point into hotel bay, round to International Bay and down to Lochend and the Butts. Some action also reported from the Heronry. Various lines are in use, but the fish are not deep. Heavier lines have only been employed in the windier conditions to keep in contact with the flies. Terminal tackle has included the Red Headed Damsel, Cormorant, Blob, Montana, and Buzzers in the calm spells. Dougie Inglis from Kilmarnock (right) took this 6lb 8oz over-wintered fish from the Butts on a buzzer.

While his mate motors into the wind and rain. A good time to remember there is no such thing as bad weather just unsuitable clothes (below). Is it an underwater camera Chris?
