6ft Water Temp: 15C, Clarity (secchi disk): 2.2m . Almost July and the water temperature is only 15C – a carbon copy of last year. Still a lot of buzzer and caenis activity. Areas where anglers have reported good catches in the last few days are; Shear Point, Reedy Bay, Portend Burn Mouth, Inch Cuan (Dog Isle), Malling Shore (Roman Bay), International Bay. Dry fly and small traditionals as well as buzzers, blobs and boobies have all been working.
English Disabled Flyfishers win International Match
The 7 man English disabled team caught 107 fish for 228lbs 11oz over the 2 day event - 2 more fish and 5lbs in weight more than their nearest contenders Scotland. Wales were 3rd with 83 fish and holding up the pack were Ireland with 73 fish. The Scottish Disabled team have used Menteith as their home venue since the inception of the competition in 1979.

9th Evening Heat; Scottish Club Championships Results – sponsored

27 boats landed 118 fish for 274lbs. Top 3 man team were Change FF with 13 fish for 30lbs 13oz, 2nd Luggiebank AC 11 fish 26lbs 6oz and 3rd Alba Fly Fishers with 11 fish for 24lbs 8oz. The top four bag weights qualifying for the Champion of Champions were J.Crawford, 5 fish; J.Twaddle (5) (joint first), J.McBride (5) and R.Logan (4). The biggest fish was a 3lb 15oz bow caught by J.Crawford of Change AC. Top tactics were very small flies or dries in the Shear Point and Reedy Bay and Malling Burn.
Wateraid came to the Lake again this year, and thousands of pounds were collected (details later as the money is still coming in) by Robin Lambert and crew from company contacts of Business Stream who took part in the days fishing.

Best Team was Morrisons FF with 20 fish for 52lbs 6oz, 2nd was CIBA FF with 20 fish for 44lbs 14oz and 3rd were WaterAid FF
In terms of catches – it was a best for the fundraiser with 52 rods bagging 156 trout – and what a raffle!
In the Seventh evening of the Menteith Boat League sponsored by Angling Centre Stirling, Ronnie Robb was first with 5 for 13lbs 10oz, 2nd A.Boylan with 5 for 12lbs 14oz and 3rd W.Ramage with 5 for 12lbs 3oz. Top of the league is A.Dunn on 51pts, 2nd is I.Campbell on 56 and 3rd A.Boylan with 59pts. The 18 evening boats landed 87 fish.
