With the water at its hottest this year so far it’s more weather for barbeques
and shorts than fishing despite this they are still catching fish on anything
from a floating down to a Di5. The places that have been holding the fish this
week are; Shear point, Reedy bay, Rookery, The Cage bay, Stable Point, behind
Dog Island, Roman Bay and Lochend. Flies that are doing well include Daiwl Bachs,
Boobys and Blobs of various colours, Damsel nymphs, Crunchers, Yellow Dancers,
Sedges, Cormorants, Kate McLaren, and Cats whisker.
The Evening fishing is now terminating at 10pm.
Saturday say the 13th and last Evening Heat of the Scottish Club
Championships sponsored by the Daily Record with additional prizes from the
Angling Centre Stirling. Tonight 20 teams were competing and they
caught 60 fish for 145lb 1oz. Top 3 man team were Grizzlecats A, (Tom Wilson,
Peter Edge, Calum Crosbie) with 8 fish for 21lb 8oz, 2nd Edinburgh civil service
with 8 fish for 20lb 12oz and 3rd were Edinburgh Trout Anglers with 7 fish for
16lb 2oz 4th were Stirling Castle with 5 fish for 11lb 10oz. The Top four individuals
qualifying for the Champion of Champions were 1st Tom Wilson (Grizzlecats “A”)
5 fish for 14lb 4oz, he caught his fish off shear point on a sink tip line using
an orange and yellow blob with 2 diawl bachs. 2nd was Andy Anderson(Edinburgh
civil service) with 5 fish 13lb 4oz, 3rd was Kenny Woods(Edinburgh Trout Anglers)
with 4 fish for 8lb 11oz and 4th was Arron Philip (Canmore) with 3 fish for
7lb 11oz, he also got the heaviest Fish of the night at 4lbs.
11th heat of the Menteith Boat League sponsored by Angling Centre
Stirling, 34 anglers landed 91fish for 225lb. There were 11 limit
bags. Top rod on the night was Peter Edge with his 5 fish weighing 14lb 15oz,
2nd Stuart Raybould 5 fish for 14lb 12oz and 3rd was Alan Smith with 5fish 14lb
7oz. The prize for the heaviest fish weighing 5lb 11oz goes to David Paterson.
With only 2 nights to go the top three in the league are current champ Andy
Dunn on 57points, 2nd, Andy MacKay on 64 points and 3rd, Andy Boylan on 68 points.
