Menteith Weekly Report
6ft Water Temp: 14C, Clarity (secchi disk): 2.5m - Still
cool at night but very bright and breezy during the day and these conditions
(with a consequent reduction in water clarity) were perhaps the reason
for the fishing to become a little more difficult than expected. Some
massive hatches of buzzers with many mayfly, and daphnia still in evidence.
Catches have again been good in a variety of areas, with a tendency for
the North and Western drifts to be getting a mention, where the trend
is for the use of faster sinking lines. However, with strengthening easterlies
of recent the calm water on the road shore and Sandy Bay have (so I’m
told) given good results with buzzer tactics and floating lines.
