24th June 20086ft Water Temp: 16C, Clarity (secchi disk): 1.8m . Some big buzzer and Caenis hatches - and the pin fry are now in abundance. Best areas appear to be the Malling Shore and Reedy Point but most areas of the Lake (including the shallow areas e.g. Lochend) are reporting good catches and this is due to the comparatively low water temperatures for the time of year. Sink tip or floating lines are currently popular and the flies of the moment are diawl bachs or dries. A blob or booby is often included as an attractor. THE LONGEST DAY We had our first of the two early morning sessions on the 21st June, the fishing was excellent and the 6 boats out on the Loch weighed in 54 fish for 109lbs and returned a further 58 fish – giving an amazing rod average of over 9 fish. We will need better uptake if we are to carry on with this option so hence the publicity! The final early morning for this year is on Sat 12th July (4am – 9am). Below: Andy Dunn from Ayrshire heads out into the dawn.
