Menteith Fishery

 22nd April 2008

6ft Water Temp: 7.5C, Clarity (secchi disk): 2.2m

The past weeks have been dominated by bright cold weather with strong easterly winds and anglers sought shelter on the road shore and at Lochend. When calm weather intervened with overcast conditions catches immediately responded and were at times spectacular. In light winds buzzer fishing was the answer with anglers changing to lures and going deeper in the more difficult high wind and brighter conditions. Areas fishing well over the past few days have been the Lochend/Todhole, Hotel Bay and Gateside Bay. However with a return to westerlies some of the more sheltered western drifts make be worth a throw. The increase in temperature from 6C to 7.5C had an immediate effect on the appetite fish in the rearing pens. They say grass starts growing at 7C……………james graham..
