2008 SANA OPEN RESULTS
The years Scottish Angler’s National Association Open Fly Fishing Singles
Champion
is Martin Smith (pictured right) from Perth. Martin was fishing in the Kates
Brae area with a 20 foot leader, midge tip line and 4 buzzers? and
captured 8 fish for 18lbs 4oz. 2nd was Dougie Inglis from Ayrshire with 8
fish for 17lbs 2oz and 3rd Kevin McCabe (pictured on left) of East Lothian
with 8 fish for 16lbs 4oz. Kevin McCabe was using similar tactics to Martin
but was fishing in Hotel Bay.
The Pairs event was won by Kevin McCabe and Martin Smith with 16 fish for 34lbs 8oz. 2nd placed pair were Ken Oliver and Iain Campbell with 13 fish and 3rd Andy Boylan and Dougie Inglis with 11 fish. The prizes and trophies were presented by SANA President Ronnie Picken who thanked Competition Organiser Ian Campbell of Dunkeld for all his hard work. In all the 42 competitors weighed in 109 fish for 277lbs and returned a further 35, giving a rod average of 3.4 fish per angler.
Another Great Summer for Fishing! The catch statistics
for June for a 2 man boat 8hr session was 5.3 fish
for 12.6 lbs (4.3 fish for 9.2lbs in June 2007). In July the
catch average for a 2 man boat 8hr session was 4.4 fish for 10.6lbs (4.7 fish
for 11.2lbs in July 2007). Over the last two years the catch rate has not dipped
in the summer months – probably because there hasn’t been much
of a summer…………..
