Spring arrived in the middle of last week only for winter to return by the weekend and then a firmer return to springy conditions for the start of this week. The warmer calmer weather of this week saw big rises in catches, which were on occasion very good, almost too good! Fish were taking black buzzer imitations and dry fly with relish and catches all over the Lake (notably Todhole, Butts, Heronry) were particularly prolific. Last weekend we were back to frosts and the penetrating North Wind veering east by Sunday. Lochend again became murky due to the unusually strong North wind and anglers found quite a bit of success on slow sinking lines and lures on the sheltered northern shore (above “Combat Fishing in hotel Bay” picture supplied by Colin Riach, caption A.N. Angler). By Sunday the east wind resulted in the east shore being sheltered and productive. Today (Wednesday 9th) saw the best fishing of the season (so far) at the Lake with warm, calm and dull conditions and all areas reported good catches.
Change Angling Club caught 230 fish for 7 boats on the 9th - perhaps a club record catch for the Lake? 13 Rods caught 230 fish, 65 fish bagged for 152 lbs, 165 fish returned.Individual results:
