6ft Water Temp: 11.5C, Clarity (secchi disk): 2.5m. Recent hot spots at the Lake are Hotel Bay, Reedy Point, Heronry, Shear Pin Point. Last week and in the final it was a day for the blob and blob variants. This week the anglers have been talking more of white cats and cormorants. The action is near the top when dull but a bit deeper is also working.
Pictured Below: The new Scottish Champs, after 13 heats and
two semi-finals involving 230 clubs – were; Jimmy McBride, Willie Leach and Jim Crawford
of Change Fishing Club ‘B’ Team. The team fished some sunburst
blobs and the odd
cormorant
on or near the top of the water at Reedy Point and Hotel Bay. In second place
(but with one more fish) were 2006 club champs Edinburgh Trout Anglers(Kenny
Wood, Walter Archiebald and Dave Bonnington)and 3rd were Change A Team(Kevin
McCabe, Andy Dunn, Jock Kettles). Top bag
on the day was Change B Secretary - Kevin McCabe of Change Homes - Kevin netted
14 trout. Championship Secretary Kenny Miller tells me that 12 clubs
donated their cheques (as did the staff with their tip at the Forth Inn Hotel)
to the Scottish Clubs Charity - the Cardiac Unit at Yorkhill sick Kids, and
this amounted to £1135. He and the charity are extremely grateful. The
54 anglers landed 280 trout for 599lbs. The winners received £500 (for
a while) and an HM3 fly rod from the Angling Centre Stirling and the runners
up Sierra reels.
