Scots lads take the medals in
Youth Fly Fishing International. The recent match at Menteith was won
in convincing style by the team of 14 Scots who landed 43 fish for 106lbs.
2nd were Ireland with 32 fish for 81lbs, 3rd England with 28 fish for
74lbs and 4th Wales with 26 fish for 63lbs. Most of the action was in
Gateside Bay, Stable Point and the Malling shore where slow retrieve washing
line set ups of cat boobies and diawl bachs seemed to do the trick. Best
basket (6 fish) was taken by Scott Miller from Perthshire (pictured right)
- one of his team mates Kris Bates was the only other competitor to boat
6 fish. The difference between the bags was down to Scott landing a nice
6 pounder the heaviest fish of the competition. Well done to all for taking
part and to manager Arthur Wilkie (below in the blue shirt) who certainly
motivated the team and won his first gold whilst in charge. To cool off
Arthur and the team all went for a dip in the Lake.
