Continuing cool south easterly weather has kept temperatures reasonable
for the fish which are big, and are still being caught on sink tip lines
or the dry fly. Top areas this week have been Gateside Bay, Rookery, Malling
shore and the Road Shore. George
Brown of Loanhead and District landed this 15lb giant on the 20th from
Gateside Bay. Top tactics - cormorants and midge tip in Gateside. Dries
on the road shore. The youth internationalists have two days of practice
(returning all fish) prior to the International Match on Wednesday25th.
12th Evening Heat; Scottish
Club Championships Results – sponsored by the Daily Record
with additional prizes from the Angling Centre Stirling. 27 boats landed
39 fish for 100lb. Top 3 man team were Soldier Palmers AC (8 fish), 2nd
Carradale AC (4 fish) and 3rd equal were St.Boswell and Newton AC 4 fish
and St.Fillan and Lochearn 3 fish. The Top four individuals qualifying
for the Champion of Champions were 1st J. Gardner 4 fish (Soldier Palmers),
2nd G.MacKay 3 fish St.Fillans, 3rd D.Bell (Blairgowrie and Rattray) and
4th J.Harvey (St.Boswells and Newton). Heaviest Fish was 4lbs 4oz, caught
by D.Bell.
10th heat of the Menteith Boat League sponsored by Angling
Centre Stirling, 35 anglers landed 96 fish for 235lbs. With only
3 more heats left of this year's league, when the best 9 placings are
considered it is Dougie Ingles at the top with 56 points. In 2nd equal
position are Andy Dunn and James Litster. Dave Paterson is 4th. Well done
on the night to top rod John Buchanan who had 6 fish for 18lbs 10oz. 2nd
on the night was Peter Auchterlonie and 3rd Dougie Inglis. Most action
was in the cages. Photocopies of all the results will be available for
reference each Wednesday so you can double check.
Club Catches; Scotsman 3 boats 21 fish 47lbs, Loanhead and District 13
boats 72 fish for 190lbs and 20 returned, Thack AC 6 boats 31 fish for
85lbs and 4rtd, Aberdour AC 7 boats 25 fish for 60lbs.
Early Morning Shift: The first of the two early
Saturday morning shifts went very well with a glorious start to the day
and some excellent sport was had. James Litster and Andy dunn had 40 plus
fish on dries. There are still a few boats left for the next and last
early morning shift on the 4th August.
