Menteith Report

19th June

6ft Water Temp: 15C Secchi Disk Gateside: 2.1m

Water temperature dropped back to 12C, this and some strong easterlies stirred things up and clarity dropped accordingly. By Tuesday 19th temperature had recovered to 15C. Top areas this week have been the Road Shore (Kates Brae), Malling shore and Gateside Bay/Rookery. In the calmer water dries and the washing line have been the best methods but in the windier deeper areas like Gateside and the Rookery probably faster sinking lines and lures are more popular. Peter Irvine (right) of Dalziel Steel AC landed this brown of 9lbs 8oz on a white rabbit. The fish took the fly near the surface at Reedy (Sams) Point. Quite a few memorable catches this week with two term regulars reporting their best ever catches - including Hugh Lusk of Bishopbriggs (bottom right) who has been fishing the Lake for 50 years.
