6ft Water Temp: 19.5C Secchi Disk Gateside: 2.1m

Areas fishing this week have been the Rookery, Reedy Point, Gateside, Stable Point, Dog Isle and Roman Bay. A week which will be remembered for the size of the fish (average 2lbs 14oz) – they broke the scales. Best tactics still a sink tip or intermediate line with a booby on the point and diawl bachs and buzzers higher up. Evening fishing for 2007 finishes on Friday 17th August.


BEEN THERE, DUNN IT! Andy Dunn is the new Menteith Boat League Champion for 2007 and £800 was raised by the competitors for charity. Electrician Andy Dunn from Ayrshire (pictured left) is the new Menteith and Angling Centre Stirling Boat League Champion. After 13 heats where the anglers are awarded points according to the finishing position (but can discard their worst 4 results; 25pts awarded for a no show), Andy finished with 30 points. Andy kept his best performance for the last night when he finished top bag with 6 fish 19lbs 6oz. 2nd in the League was last year’s champ and Andy’s boat partner James Litster who finished two points behind his friend and rival. 3rd was Dave Paterson with 51 points. James Litster received the Alan Ronald Memorial Trophy for the heaviest fish (8lb 14oz) caught during the competition. In addition to all the weekly heat prizes of two airflow sixth sense fly lines, comp sponsor Martin Grantham of Angling Centre Stirling (above right) also supplied £100 worth of tackle vouchers to the winner and £30 and £20 for the runners up. In addition 1st,2nd and 3rd also received £150, £100 and £50 respectively from the competition subscription fund, which leaves around £800 to go to charities yet to be decided.
