Menteith Weekly Report 25th
6ft Water Temp: 10C Secchi Disk Gateside:2.1m

A two degree jump in water temperature seemed to occur overnight on 20/21st April. The response from the fish was immediate with bag loads coming in. The cuckoo can now be heard and the ospreys are back – more sure signs of an approaching summer! In the last week weather and wind has been variable. Hotel bay, International Bay, Lochend, Tod Hole, The Butts, Stable point and Gateside Bay have all produced a fish.

On the whole anglers have had most success with sinking or intermediate lines. Diawl bachs, damsels and boobies have all been used to good effect – with a slow retrieve.

A very large pike was recently caught by Jed Henderson of Viewpark, Uddingston. He hooked it on a coral cat double (size 10) with 6lb fluorocarbon nylon. Jed reckoned the pike to be 40lb plus and it took him around 30mins to land.
