Fishery Report 23rd May |
||
| 6ft Water Temp:
14C Secchi Disk Gateside:1.3m
The fish was hooked on the yellow apps bloodworm (see above) and floating line with 8lb nylon. It turned down a bibio and diawl bach which was on the same cast. The origonally fin perfect fish took around 30 minutes to land. The fish was weighed and photographed around 7 ½ hrs after capture and it is likely that it would have weighed over 15lbs. The photo shows it had dried out considerably causing wrinkling and cracking of the skin and tail fins. The fish was likely stocked in early 2005 or before. Another cool week in a cool month in a cool spring. 2005 was a warm spring. 2004 was perhaps more usual and our Lily leaves are 2 weeks behind 2004 - now only just emerging on to the water surface. Fishing has been good in the last week with mean fish weight averaging over 2½lbs. Areas performing well have been the Heronry, Malling Shore, Gateside Bay and Rookery. Sparkler blobs, cormorants, buzzers have been mentioned in passing. 3rd Evening Heat; Scottish Club Championships Results –
