6ft Water Temp: 19C Secchi Disk Gateside: 2.5m Very warm surface water temperatures with vastly improving clarity have been a feature of this weeks fishing. Dry fly tactics or sink tip line with diawl bachs (often green) and cormorants (sometimes blue) – when there is cloud cover have given the best catches. In bright conditions the anglers have tried faster sink lines to get down to the fish but often with not a lot of success – especially in a wind. However, there has been some very reasonable catches. For example, in the heat of the day of Saturday 10th June Thack AC landed 48 fish from 6 boats and the day before Edinburgh civil Service landed 35 fish from 4 boats. This picture of Quint Glen stocking fish was taken by David Mitchel. Best areas have been the Malling Shore (Roman Bay) and the Gap.
The 27 boats landed 93 fish. Top 3 man team were Leslie Llanillar AC with 8 fish for 18lbs 9oz. 2nd Lochgelly with 9 fish for 17lbs 9oz and 3rd Crieff with 7 fish for 14lbs 6oz. These teams go forward to the semi-finals. Top four individuals qualifying for the Champion of Champions were G. Brown 5 fish, R.Veitch 6 fish, D.Chalmers 6 fish and J.Davis 5 fish. Top tactics DRY FLY in the Gap. Heaviest fish R.Veitch 3lbs 10oz. Menteith Boat League – sponsored by the Angling
Centre Stirling. In the fourth outing of the 2006 Boat League,
A.Gilbert was top rod with a 7 fish limit for 15lbs 8oz, 2nd was G.Hayward
with 7 fish and 3rd D.Ingles with 5 fish. Top place in the league is now
held by Gordon .Hayward on 22pts with Andy MacKay in 2nd position
