On 11th September anglers at the Lake held an angling competition for charity and collected over £7000 for the Childrens Hospice Assoc. Scotland.

After the event there was a prize draw for all those taking part. £600 was won by Quint Glen, £300 by T.Taggart of Kilgreggan and £100 by D.Sibson of Edinburgh. All donated the cash back to CHAS. Big thanks to all those who donated and collected, and a special thanks to Kevin McCabe for all his organising, and donation of the additional cash prizes and trophies - in what turned out to be a record fundraising day at the Lake. Thanks also to the Association of Scottish Stillwater Fisheries for organising the supply of prizes (rod, reel, smoker and whisky).

Temperature is still reasonably high so the fish are not close to the margins yet but all the drifts now have fish. Some superb dull fishing conditions this week with plenty of surface activity. A good week as shown by the catches. Fishy places were more or less to be found anywhere but the Malling Shore, Gateside Bay, Hotel Bay and Roadshore are worthy of special attention. Fly of the week is either the white cat or white cat booby. The method has been predominantly sink tip retrieve but casting at rising fish always pays dividends. Buzzers have also been used to good effect and as the fish seem to sit at all depths in the cages, faster sink line are being deployed here. Many more big fish off this week. Biggest was this one at 14lbs 4oz caught by Kevin Lynch of IBM AC in Gateside on an intermediate line and white booby.
