| 6ft Water Temp: 5.5C Secchi Disk Gateside:2m
This spring is the best I’ve seen for big over wintered fish at the Lake. For instance these three fine looking fish (all from the west basin) were lucky enough to have their photos excellently taken (but I have heard and seen many more).
Pictured above is retired Central Scotland Policeman Malcolm
Millar of Clackmannan who landed this beauty of 6lbs 13oz. Malcolm caught
7 fish for 18lbs (photo Stewart Marshall of Cambusbarron).
John Michie (right) caught this huge tailed 6lb brownie in Gateside Bay on a size 10 yellow dancer fished very close to the surface. On the basis that a picture is as good as a thousand words - this fine looking specimen, caught by Russell Boyd (below - photo Ken Bell) also deserves inclusion.
Tactics have varied in the past week from floating to DI3 with lures or buzzers but with a slow retrieve. Areas have included the shallow markers, dog isle, Inchmahome South shore, Hotel Bay, Road shore, Lochend and the Butts.
Menteith Boat League - sponsored by the angling Centre Stirling kicks off on the 17th May. More details to follow shortly.....
