| A further 2 degree jump in water temperature resulted in a 12C reading at 6ft for the start of May. For the last fortnight water temperatures have been equivalent to last year. However, in the preceding 3 weeks temperature was drastically lower. A lot more limit bags in the last week. Hotel bay, International Bay, Lochend and the Heronry have been reported as holding fish in recent days. Still mainly on mini lures and intermediate or sink tip lines. Catch statistics for End March/April are very reasonable but a lot poorer than last April’s record breaking start – despite similar levels of stocking. The average catch per boat (including released fish) in 2006 was 4.6 fish for 9.8lbs (2005 was 6.5 fish for 15.3lbs). Evening Fishing Stared on 1/05/06.
