More wind and rain but the Lake has its own microclimate – being
in a hollow in the middle of Scotland has meant that we have escaped (so
far) the wind. The rain is still falling as I write this and water levels
are fast rising with spate conditions in the inflowing burns. Temperature
continues to fall and is now 14C at 6ft with a clarity reading of 2.3m
on the secchi disk. Some nice over summered trout in the catches this
week – as shown below in Colin Riach’s photo of one of his
fish from the recent Heriots FP outing. The hot spots are still the eastern
and northern shores and small flies like snatchers have been popular this
week – on a floating line or midge tip.

Scottish Club Championships – semi final
results 23/9/05
30 boats landed 135 fish for 286lbs (rod average 2.25). A closely contested
semi-final, and as the afternoon turned wild most of the fishing was in
the morning and concentrated on Reedy Point into Hotel Bay. Top rod was
Jim Crawford of Grizzlecats B, who landed 9 fish and was fishing the cormorant.
Top team on the day were last years winners Grizzlecats B (Alan Hill,
James Litster and Jim Crawford), with 15 fish for 30lbs 13oz, 2nd were
Pinkertons with 10 fish and 3rd were Eaglesham FF with 9. Other teams
through to this Friday’s final are St.Serfs, Loanhead and Dist,
Crieff, Dunoon and Avonbank.

Heriots AC (8 boats) 28 fish for 53lbs and 20 fish returned, D.W.F.A.C.
(5 boats) 29 fish for 71lbs, Lochinch AC (11) boats 71 fish for 149lbs,
Kinglassie AC 29 fish for 57lbs,, Dundee AC (4 boats) 20 fish for 39lbs,
Tillicoultry AC (4 boats) 19 fish for 38lbs, Canmore (6 boats) 14 fish
for 32lbs, Cove and Kilgreggan AC (5 boats) 28 fish for 58lbs, Edin Civil
Service (3 ½ boats) 15 fish for 32lbs.
We have a Fundraiser with fishing (12pm till 4pm ish) and barbeque
to close the season on Sunday the 6th November. Please book with Mrs Nesbit.
Tickets are £30 which includes a boat and barbeque ticket for two.

web paster with a 7lb 4oz Teith salmon/grilse caught on the fly at Cambusmore
on the Teith on 26th September. His 6th salmon and his first in 8 years.
