Another settled week with good water clarity (around 3m
– with a 3.4m peak) as measured on the secchi disk in Gateside Bay.
Temperature has kept at a reasonable 18-19C with predominantly light westerlies.
Best areas have been (again) Stable point and Cages Bay, Rookery, Reedy
point to Hotel Bay and to a lesser extent the road shore. Tactics have
varied between small dries and traditionals on floating lines - and lures
(white cat, booby, red headed damsel on slime or intermediate lines.
Glenkinchie Boat League 13th Night 10th August
With 13 evenings of the Glenkinchie Boat League having taking place and
only the day final still to go – the contest for first and second
place is still wide open. Only the best 8 placings count and as of 10th
August Peter Auchterlonie from Creiff is in first place with 26 points
and Jim Litster lies second on 30. Andy MacKay is 3rd with 35 points and
David Paterson is 4th on 47 points. D.Paterson won the heat on the 10th
, P.Auchterlonie was 2nd and Iain Colligan 3rd. The 20 anglers landed
42 fish.

Central Scotland Police (9 boats) 18 fish for 43lbs, Edinburgh Trout Anglers
(9 boats) 50 trout 115lbs, Lothian and Borders Police (13 boats) 85 trout
188lbs, Saturday AC (7 boats) 38 trout 73lbs, Edin FDG (7 boats) 25 fish
for 51lbs. Dalzel Steel (5 boats) 17 trout for 38lbs, Falkirk FD (7 boats)
22 fish for 48lbs, St.Fillans (3 boats) 11 fish for 27lbs, 7 fish RTD,
Thistle AC 15 trout for 38lbs, Balbeggie AC (7 boats) 27 fish for 59lbs,
West linton AC (5 boats) 7 fish for 15lbs. Some Individual boats have
done well recently – notably Jock Kettles and partner who caught
32 fish on the 15th and returned 17.
