Report for week ending 19th May 2004
Temperature at 6ft 14C; Clarity 1.5m. A great start
to the week with some memorable dry fly and buzzer fishing but by the
end of the week things had got difficult due to the high winds and bright
sunshine. Clarity dropped as the sunshine and wind got to work on the
recent thunderstorm run off. Finally (18/5/04), despite strong winds but
spared the bright sunshine, the experts managed a very respectable catch
in the latest SANA prelim, and recorded a boat average of 6.1 fish for
11.7lbs. At the time of writing the best method is a DI3 line and a fast
pulled lure. Fishing has recently been mainly confined to the more sheltered
drifts e.g. Lochend, Kate’s Brae, Todhole and Dog Isle.
Diary Date: “Troutanabout” at the Lake of
Menteith will be shown as the last in a 6 part series on trout fishing
in Scotland, and can be seen on Thursday the 19th August 7.30 STV (1/2
hr).
