Photo: D.Fraser Report 23/9 - 28/9/03 Water temperature has fallen to 13.5 C at 6ft and clarity has also reduced to 2.8m. Large shoals of 2-3 inch roach are evident flashing and feeding on the shrimp and daphnia that currently abounds. In turn they are being hounded from below and above by fish (perch, pike, trout) and bird (heron, grebe, kingfisher - no guillemots yet!). No ospreys have been seen for over a week and only a few martins/swallows remain from the second brood. The destratification of the water column is under way and a bit more colour than of late might assist in disguising the cast line. The fish are to be found in various drifts and as they are near the surface are usually visible - so it is worthwhile having a look around. The road shore, Hotel Bay and the reeds, Lochend and the Butts appear to be holding the most fish – but they can be found all over. Flies of the week are the diawl bach, cormorant buzzer, black cat, barby doll and sedge. Pictured below is Jimmy Millar of Herits AC.
Results and other Notable Catches Congratulations to Caley Liner Club Champion 2003 Billy Boe.
