Report: 17th June to 23rd June 2003
Current water temperature at 6ft has fallen back to 16C and some strong
winds have helped to reduce clarity from last weeks high of 3.5m. Out
in the middle is still doing well, as are the Rookery and Gateside Bay
drifts. Successful tactics vary from dries to mini-lures.
Club Results and other Notable Catches
17th June: SANA semi-final: 27 boats
landed 98 fish for 183lbs Top rod was Campbell Morgan of Strathleven,
2nd best bag was defending champ Craig Cowan. 27 anglers qualified and
the cut off weight was 3lbs 4oz. Campbell caught his fish on a white cat
and slime line. 18th June On the fifth night of the Glenkinchie
boat league, 18 anglers landed 43 fish for 94lbs. Top bag for
the second week in a row was W. Ramage with a muddler and a Wickams on
a floating line on the road shore. A.Ronald retained the top position
in the league, was second on the night. 20th June Grangemouth (7 boats)
36 fish for 77lbs. 21st June: Leslie and Glenrothes (4 boats) 39 fish
for 78lbs, Luckies (4 boats) 15 fish for 28lbs, Thack (6 boats) 67 fish
for 148lbs, Largs (5 boats) 50 fish for 102lbs.
On Saturday evening the 48 anglers taking part in the 6th heat of the
Scottish Interclub Championships caught 79 fish weighing
169lbs. The winning 3 man team was Sunburst with 11 fish for 25lbs 5oz,
2nd were Ferranti with 12 fish for 22lbs 15oz and 3rd were Stanley and
District with 11 fish for 22lbs 4oz. These clubs go forward to the semi-final
on the 12th September. The heaviest fish (3lb 10oz) was caught by J. McReady
of Cove and Kilcreggan.. Further details of the top 4 individuals qualifying
for the Champion of Champions will be available in the
competitions sponsor – the Daily Record. Top four
from last week were S.Cocker, J.Buchanan, S.Kelly & J.Ferguson. The
winning club, best individual and heaviest fish all received Bowmore Whisky.
