Fishery Report: 16th – 22nd September.
Water temperature has remained at 15 C at 6ft while clarity edged up to 4.1m on 19/9 and now reads 3.9m. This is the first time we have recorded secchi disk clarity at 4m or above. Recent Top areas have been in the eastern basin (Lochend, Butts, Kates Brae, International Bay and out in the middle water). The fish have again been canny and best techniques have been variable. On Friday during the Scottish Clubs Championship Semi Final 32 boats landed 191 fish for 400lbs. Optimal techniques appeared to be slime lines and lures (blob, cat, booby, cormorant) on the road shore. By Monday for the SANA Open and Pairs Final (24 boats landed 130 fish for 259lbs), best method was the nymph (PTN or diawl bach) on a floating or slime line in the open water or off the east basin or Kate’s Brae. With the high level of clarity a ripple or cloudy conditions have been necessary for takes.

18th Sept: Strathclyde Police (12 boats) 62 fish for 130lbs. Falkirk AC 57 fish.
19th Sept: Qualifying clubs for the Final of the Scottish Club Championships on 3rd October were Grizzle Cats (B) 19 fish for 44lbs, Newtonmearns 14 fish for 32lbs, Crown Fly A 13 fish for 26lbs 6oz, Strathleven A 11 fish, Lochgelly 11 fish Eaglesham A 12 fish, Soldier Palmers 11 fish, Heriots 10 fish (20lbs 14oz).
20th Sept: Campbell and Oliver 11 fish for 25lbs, Dundee AC (6 boats) 21 fish for 43lbs, Kinglassie 5 boats 21 fish for 44lbs, Townhill AC (8 boats) 19 fish for 37lbs and Bank of Scot (8 boats) 20 fish for 43lbs.
21st Sept: Tilly AC (4 boats) 27 fish for 59lbs, Canmore (4 boats) 19 fish for 36lbs, Cove and Kilcreggan (5 boats) 21 fish for 45lbs, Clack AC (4 boats) 4 fish 8lbs, Inchture AC (2 boats) 14 fish for 28lbs and Alloa (4 boats) 16 fish for 42lbs.
22nd Sept: Joint Winners of the 2003 SANA Open were Derek Pozzi and John Hood. Both anglers caught 7 fish for 15lbs 1oz. Campbell Morgan was 3rd with 6 fish. The SANA Open Pairs was won by John Hood and Fraser Renwick with 11 fish for 25lbs 10oz. 2nd was K.Miller and L.Taylor with 9 fish and 3rd were Fullerton and Morgan with 8 fish.
