Fishery Report: 1st July to 7th July
Water temperature is 18C at 6ft and clarity has fallen to 1.9m. Sport is mainly in the middle or over the deeper areas (i.e. off the rednock shore, heronry, rookery, cages). The white cat has featured strongly on occasions – as had the beaded damsel and booby. On some days, small traditionals, snatchers, diawl bach have fooled the fish. Some very hot days have put the fish down – but recently, in the morning , after a night of calm there has been a lot of surface activity and some anglers are having very good sport with a dry fly and buzzers. With school holidays upon us and the national heats over for Menteith, boats are now easier to come by on the lake (with the exception of Monday and Wednesday Seniors Day Sessions and the weekends). Some fine looking on-grown fish in the bags.

Club Results and other Notable Catches
1st July: Tayside Police (4 boats) 18 fish for 38lbs, Milngavie (5 boats) 11 fish for 26lbs.

2nd July: In the evening; Seventh night of the Glenkinchie boat league and17 anglers landed 69 fish for 151lbs. Top rod was Derek Marklow (bottle of Glenkinchie) with 8 fish for 19lbs 8oz (blob, crafteye/ intermediate line/ International Bay), 2nd top D.Paterson (blob/cats/booby)with 8 fish for 18lbs 13oz and 3rd A.Ronald with 8 for 17lbs 4oz.(Hotel Bay/Blobby). The second bottle was awarded to K.Miller - captor of the only broonie. A.Ronald remains top of the table by virtue of having fished more evenings (see Glenkinchie Table). D.Paterson is in second position.

3rd July: I.Earle 8 fish limit for 18lbs, Clarke 11 fish 27lbs, R.Saunders 11 fish 26lbs, I.Skilling (Clacks)14 fish for 38lbs, Callander AC (5 boats) 17 fish for 36lbs. 4thJuly: J.Buchanan 7 fish for 16lbs, Edinburgh Fly Dressers Guild (5 boats) 25 fish for 58lbs.

5th July:On Saturday evening the 51 anglers taking part in the 9th heat of the Scottish Interclub Championships caught 75 fish weighing 148lbs. The winning 3 man team was Newtyle and Meigle with 9 fish for 16lbs 4oz, 2nd were Cupar with 8 fish for 15lbs 4oz and 3rd were Crown Fly A with 6 fish for 15lbs 2oz. The heaviest fish (3lb1oz) was caught by T.Campbell of Crown Fly. The best bags were taken from off the road shore using slow intermediates and white cat combinations. Further details of the top 4 individuals qualifying for the Champion of Champions will be available in the competitions sponsor – the Daily Record. Top four from last week were G.Davey, I.Hamilton, D.McGregor, J.Kettles. The winning club, best individual and heaviest fish all received Bowmore Whisky.

Monday 7th: United Edinburgh and Leith (8 boats) 55 fish for 11lbs, Morgan/Forbes Strathleven 15 fish for 34lbs.
