Angling tuition is available from qualified instructors or coaches at the Lake. This can be booked as part of a group or on an individual basis .
Trout Fly fishing
Group Coaching Days are primarily aimed at beginners to fly fishing. These are run by renowned, experienced, qualified and certificated instructors. The group will involve a maximum teaching ratio of 6 clients per coach and includes tackle hire, boat hire and angling permit. Tuition will be given in all aspects of tackle, casting and boat handling. There are five planned for 2012 but this is subject to demand.
Coaching days (duration 9am to 5.30pm Mon - Sat, and 11.30am to 7pm Sundays) organised for 2012 will run on Saturday 12th May and Sundays on 3rd June, 17th June, 15th July, 5th Aug - according to demand. Alternatively, days can also be arranged to suit.
The Head Coach for Group tuition days is John Buchanan; a regular in the Scottish Fly Fishing Team (twice Captain of gold medal winning teams), two times winner of the Daily Record Champion of Champions and Manager of the Scottish Ladies National fly fishing Team....... The all inclusive cost is £50 at the weekend. To book or for further details contact the fishery. Following completion of the course, the Lake is offering a HALF PRICE BOAT to who ever introduced the course to the beginner (can be the beginner if he read it himself).
Individual Coaching: One to one tuition can be arranged with suitably qualified coaches, the price depends on the arrangement but is likely to be around £60 to £70 for the day, in addition to boat and permit fees. To book contact the fishery.
Youth Coaching: We have a successfull youth angling club called the cormorants which is administered by Coach Alisdair Mair (See Youth link).
Pike Fly Fishing Introduction
Pike fly fishing is relatively new to the Lake but the lake abounds with this wild fish and the sport with a fly rod is exceptional. There are rules regarding the pike fishing (see pike angling), and if you would like an introductory free lesson to the art, an expert Fly Pike angler can be organised to advise - if you pay for the boat. A fantastatic offer in my opinion. To arrange please contact the fishery. Pike tackle hire can be arranged at no cost for the introductory lesson.
